Upstate NY FIRST Kickoff 2016

On January 9, 2016, thirty-five FIRST Robotics Teams from Upstate NY gathered at Spencerport High School to kickoff the 2016 FIRST Robotics Competition season. This year’s game, FIRST STRONGHOLD, was revealed to over 75,000 students, 3100 teams and 114 venues around the world simultaneously.

Our local kickoff featured some fun activities including a DJ, photo booth, basketball and a raffle prior to the broadcast. There was also a review of the control system changes for 2016 by Team 1511 Rolling Thunder, a beta control system team. Team 3015 held a drive for hats/gloves and scarves to be distributed by The Willow House to battered women and children in our area.  Click here for local TV coverage from Time Warner Cable News.

The teams now have six weeks to design and build a robot for this year’s game. Based on the crowd reaction to the game reveal this will be an exciting and challenging season. The teams were anxious to get going after kit of parts pickup. They will work until the Stop Build Day, February 23rd.
